#1: This is your basic rigging when fishing from
a boat and can be used with everything! In place of the hook you
can attach an artificial lure, steel leader or any rig like the #5 diagram
below.
#2: You can use removable weights to adjust quickly
to drift deeper, fish the bottom or just cast further.
#3: You can use a heavier slip sinker for a Jig &
Eel effect but also let the bait run up a little. The bead will stop
the live bait from running too far so that you can't feel a strike or snag
in the structure. This is a good rig for drifting for grouper.
#4: This is a good trouble free rig for both at anchored
and drifting when you know how much weight you will need.
#5: The swivel serves two good prepossess!
First, when going from light leader to a much heavier leader, it will work
better then a Blood knot. Second, it will work as a stop for any
big fish trying to pull you into the structure that could cut your lighter
leader or line. This is often the case when fishing grouper in heavy
structure. I may make this rig with as much as 200# test mono but
that is the extreme. Normally 100# to 150# mono will do the job.
